He says that “The biggest inspiration is life itself. The various journeys and experiences that one goes through. What we observe from things around us whether it’s to do with natures beauty or peoples general behaviour patterns” He has certainly had a spectacular ride, experiencing various cultures and meeting lots of colourful and interesting people along the way. Born in Paddington, London Omar moved to Montserrat with his sisters to be raised by his grandmother whilst his parents stayed in the UK in order for them to support the rest of the family. Although it took time for Omar to adjust to the culture shock of life in the tropical island, he soon immersed himself in the colorful culture of Calypso, gospel, reggae and the laid back sound of the Caribbean which is still very prominent in his songs. Once Omar was in his early teens he returned to the UK where he carried on developing his writing and singing skills. It was not long before his voice and face became recognizable across countless of venues in the UK and Ireland which is predominantly where he now based. Omar feels that it is time for him to make his mark by sharing his music with others. His feedback has already been phenomenal and he is very much looking forward to the release of his debut single.
Omar is looking forward to sharing his music with a wider audience “Whatever I feel emotionally, good or bad, I try to bring out in my songs, and hope that other people will share those feelings”. Not only a release of an album, but a release of Omar’s inner-self.
